Reviews for A Life Found

I have been fortunate to have received some great reviews for my books.

Book 2 – A Life Found

Idyllic love story

A reader of romance novels will enjoy this intimate emotional odyssey.

Jeff Diamond, a well-liked,”swarthy, good-looking,” song-writer from the very wrong side of the tracks, packs his “old dark blue Ford Fairlane” with his few “worldly possessions” and leaves his life behind for the chance to meet tennis athlete/pop star, Lynn Dyson, his obsession. His rehearsed speech wins a date with this lovely young woman, unspoiled by wealth and fame, and so begins their idyllic love story.

He is living on the edge, suppressing a past he would prefer to stay buried. Is she safe with him? Her love is unconditional, and is shown to heal him of deep emotional scars. We all wish to believe in such devotion. We get a very real glimpse into his ongoing struggle with PTSD, and how he manages to find strength.

The telling style is detailed and earnest, heartfelt, but liberally spiced with sex scenes.

Book 2 does not disappoint

I read the first book and found the story to be well written. The courtroom scenes were detailed and kept my interest.

I was glad to open this book and see that the author did something a bit different – instead of moving on, we instead went back to the past.

Told from Jeff’s viewpoint, the reader learned how Jeff and Lynn met and their early days together. This book really meshed well with the first book and gave me a solid look at both characters.

This is a solidly written series that has drawn me in to the story from the beginning. The ending was good and made me eager to continue the series.

After the worst happens

This is a most unusual book. The story of a famous couple and their family, two people from wildly divergent backgrounds who have formed what they both believe is the most perfect relationship possible between two people. Their marriage is perfect, their various careers are flourishing, their remarkable children are growing into their own almost better than any parent could hope. Sound like people you’d love to hate, for their luck, wealth, and fame, and yet part of their perfection is their down to earth likeability. When the worst happens, the family remaining is forced to see whether the magical quality of their lives can continue, minus one. I found the story to be difficult to put down, and am looking forward to the sequel. The characters are very real, despite their wealth and fame, and the writing style is engaging, though idiosyncratic, eg: seldom referring to the main character by his name or a simple pronoun, but by a descriptive term, such as “the brilliant composer” or “the renowned philanthropist.” I recommend the book highly, with the caveat that it’s a little slow paced in places.

New author for me

Lorraine Pestell is a new author to me and I am thoroughly enjoying her books. She is a story teller who can hold her reader and draw them into the lives of her characters. After the first book I immediately ordered the next two which also held my attention. Her characters are well drawn and she is not afraid to draw on the difficult subjects in life. If your are looking for a new author, please give this set of books a try as I feel you will not be disappointed. From the proceeds of the books I understand Lorraine is helping to extend educational help to children less fortunate.
